Purple News is an open experiment in news aggregation and web development.

Each day on Purple News, hot topics in the news are automatically queried and collated for easy reading. The idea is to help readers more objectively identify and compare the political bias which is present in all reporting.

Purple News was born out of a non-profit's need to track the way several news sources were covering the topic of "Voting" during the 2020 US presidential election. Using AWS Athena to scale up SQL query automation, we have extended this concept to track lots of different topics.

As of June 2021, the sources tracked include the following. More sources will be added in the future.
